A legendary researcher and designer of tubes and microphones for over thirty years, Aspen Pittman is recognized in the music industry as one of the foremost authorities on tone. The holder of no less than four U.S. patents (from speaker emulation to stereo field expansion), the list of his technical achievements describes the development of audio technology since the late ‘60s.
In the early ‘70s, Aspen and his team of engineers discovered entirely new tube operating characteristics to measure — and new ways to interpret — test data results. This research became the foundation for modern tube performance testing and the “matching” process that is still in use. Aspen is also known for writing “The Tube Amp Book,” which is considered the bible for all tonal knowledge today. It’s safe to say that most music professionals worldwide are using his technology on stage and in the studio.
Through the years, Aspen has amassed a vast personal collection of rare, vintage recording mics and amps that number over 250 pieces and is the envy of the music industry.
Many of our microphones are the result of our collaboration with Aspen. We're proud to work closely with him to ensure our products will always be at the cutting edge of audio engineering and tube technology - now and far into the future.
